Dangers in aquatic activities
Every year the number of tourists who drown is increasing, for this reason
it is important to have a professional team of guards.
The greatest danger is on the beaches due to the different types of marine currents.
What are ocean currents?
Marine currents or ocean currents are called a type of characteristic movement of the waters
that make up the largest oceans and seas, and which are due to a multitude of factors, both the
Earth's rotation, the winds and the location of the continents.
Types of Ocean Currents
Ocean Currents:
They can be classified as superficial and deep water. Surface currents are driven by wind, while
deep water currents are caused by water density, which in turn depends on salinity and temperature.
Tidal currents:
They are periodic and diurnal or semi-diurnal, and are affected by the lunar attraction.
Wave Currents:
They are caused by winds, mainly hurricanes or storms, and occur on the water surface.
Longshore Drift Currents:
They occur when currents confront the relief of the coasts and are forced to change direction or orientation.
Density Currents:
They occur when two masses of water with different densities meet at different depths or locations.
Rip Currents or return currents:
They can have distances ranging from 25 meters to a kilometer, and their density depends on the waves.
